Workshop on Selecting and Loading Digital Resources onto Tablets for Education

A workshop for selecting and loading digital resource content onto tablets is being held in Thiès at the initiative of the services of the Ministry of National Education. This activity is part of the project of the Ministry of Education for the development of Distance Education (PROMISE). Launched in 2021, on May 7 precisely, the PROMET project was deployed following a participatory, inclusive and partnership approach through the implementation of strategic axes including theimproving access to educational resources through distance learning.

According to Professor Amadou Sidy Aly BA, PROMET project coordinator, this is “a workshop for selecting and loading digital resource content onto tablets”.

Indeed, intended for students as part of this project, the PROMET coordinator announces the acquisition of 10,000 tablets which will be distributed to learners. “We had acquired 10,000 tablets which we must distribute mainly to students in both rural and urban areas,” he argued.

Before indicating that previously, “These tablets must contain digital educational resources. Now, you will first have to select what content. »

Thus, having as targets, preschool and secondary education, “The physical distribution of the tablets which we will do soon, we have targeted students from the large section, therefore, from preschool, elementary, these are the CE2 students. At the Middle level, it will be the students of the 6th and for secondary, it will be the second year students,” he said.

So, for each level, he will specify, “We must select content that has been produced within the framework of the minister which has been validated and which will be distributed to students.”

Thus, “Once this is done, we will choose the areas, often where there is no connection. This will create a digital ecosystem to create a digital environment that is important. »

It will also involve implementing a monitoring and evaluation strategy. And to explain: “Because once we give the tablets, we will monitor the use of the tablets but above all we will carry out the impact assessment on performance. »

It should be noted that this platform called the Ministry of Education Project for the Development of Tele-Education (PROMET) was set up as part of the response to the Covid19 pandemic. It is an entrance where there are classes from preschool to secondary school. The purpose of this project is to teach differently. According to Professor Amadou Sidy Aly BA “This will also make it possible to deal with the scarcity of certain teachers in fundamental disciplines where we do not necessarily have many teachers and this can make up for certain shortcomings. »
