Dubai, October 23 / WAM / The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences recently organized a workshop entitled “Aquaponics”.

The workshop addressed the growing challenges in the sectors of food and environmental security and sustainability. It also highlighted innovation in the field of hydroponics, which is an advanced technology for growing crops, and is considered one of the technologies that has received widespread attention from experts and those interested in the agricultural sector thanks to its ability to confront environmental challenges and solve agricultural problems.

Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, said that this workshop, which revolves around hydroponics, comes within the framework of the Foundation’s efforts to enhance knowledge of innovative techniques and technology and their uses in daily life and harness them to serve humanity, especially in vital fields, including agriculture, which It is considered the basis of our lives because of its importance in achieving food security and economic stability.

He added that the workshop was successful by all standards in achieving its objectives, as it added a lot of important information to our students in the field of hydroponics, which is considered one of the advanced and innovative techniques in crop cultivation, as the participants learned about the problems and challenges that can be addressed through innovative methods and techniques used in this. the field.

The workshop was attended by approximately 100 male and female students from general education schools, in addition to students from the Dubai Police Hemaya School. The students participating in the workshop learned how to implement an innovative project that includes establishing a financial farm. The objectives of the workshop were to spread the culture of innovation and digital manufacturing among members of society and introduce participants to the main technologies used in agriculture, in addition to providing practical experience or a case study that allows participants to apply hydroponic farming concepts. in their lives and enhance their problem-solving skills.

It also provided the participating students with an in-depth explanation of hydroponics, its principles, methods, advantages, impact and repercussions on the future of agriculture, through an innovative project, which is an integrated hydroponic farm, which the trainees implemented during the days of the event. The workshop touched on many related topics, including programming, 3D printing, design, digital manufacturing, and electronics.
