The collection Kotz’ijan Autumn Winter 2023/2024 of the Guatemalan designer Eduardo Figueroa paraded on the platform Fashion Designers of Latin America (FDLA) during New York Fashion Week, held on February 13. This includes pieces of handcrafted fabrics such as foot and waist looms, as well as textiles made using the pre-Columbian technique. Chivaswhich is in the process of being rescued by artisans from the various communities in San Martín Jilotepeque, Santo Domingo Xenacoj and Tecpán.
Mustard and magenta tones, mixed with some more neutral ones such as rosewood, sage and beige, predominate in the clothing. The color palette was inspired by the trend forecast of Palette, the national paint brand.

Together with the designer, Guatemalan models Isabella Azzari, from the Faces Model Management agency, and María Paula Mejía, from IZ Agency, walked the catwalk for renowned Spanish designers Custo Barcelona and Agatha Ruiz de La Prada, among others. “Being part of this event and representing Guatemala is a dream come true. I am grateful for all the support I have received and I feel very blessed to have participated in this experience.” Mejia said.

This year marks ten editions since its launch, and the festivities will begin next April, when Figueroa will present the platform’s summer edition together with two more collections of national designers.
