The Minister of Foreign Affairs was received by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, for a working meeting at the Château de Senningen. The interview provided an opportunity to take stock of bilateral relations and their development prospects. Luxembourg and Panama established diplomatic relations in 1985, and ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, including economic relations.
During their meeting, Minister Asselborn and his Panamanian counterpart were also able to examine cooperation between Luxembourg and Panama in multilateral forums, in particular in the fight against climate change and in terms of candidatures.
Afterwards, ministers Asselborn and Mouynes had an in-depth discussion on the regional situation in Central America. The head of Luxembourg’s diplomacy expressed his concern about developments in the region, particularly in Nicaragua.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama also had a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Mobility and Public Works, François Bausch, during which an air agreement between the two countries was signed.
The aviation agreement will establish a regulatory framework conducive to businesses and the development of economic relations and trade. Minister Bausch welcomed the signing of this agreement, which illustrates the will of Luxembourg and Panama to take a new step in strengthening their economic and commercial ties.
