Following their 48-hour action plan of August 13 and 14, the inter-union of workers at the Ziguinchor Peace Hospital are raising their voices again. These white coats affiliated with SAMES, SYNTRAS and SUTSAS were in a general assembly on Friday, August 30 for a mid-term review of their platform of demands.
However, after two meetings with the hospital’s general management, they do not intend to back down and have announced a 72-hour strike for September 3, 4 and 5, according to Dr. Marc Manga, coordinator of the inter-union.
”After the slogan of August 13, we considered it necessary to make a mid-term evaluation. We noted that the demands have not yet been resolved, it was about the increase in the operating subsidy; the granting of a special subsidy; the raising of the hospital to a level three on this point, we request a meeting with our supervising minister.
The other points concern the hospital’s contract workers, the problem of waterproofing, the social contributions that are not paid, the equipment, the non-payment of bonuses among others. So far, we have not yet had any satisfaction, so the assembly decided to continue the strike order next week for 72 hours,” warns Dr. Marc Manga.
