Workers install 192 windows in Times Square New Year’s sphere – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – Workers installed 192 sparkling crystal triangles on Times Square’s New Year’s Eve sphere on Sunday, in preparation for a limited celebration due to the pandemic, which will be devoid of the crowds of people that usually attend.

The ball is a 12-foot sphere covered with 2,688 glass triangles of various sizes. Some new crystals are put in every year.

This year’s edition features a new “Gift of Happiness” design, which is represented by a sunburst of bright cuts radiating outward.

The sphere, with 32,256 LED lights, will launch at 11:59 pm on New Year’s Eve to kick off 2021.

The event presentations will be designed so that people can watch them on television from home.
