Bologna, 28 September 2023 – “Marelli has decided to do not withdraw the procedure e di go ahead with the closing of the Crevalcore plant”, said the unions at the end of the meeting in the Emilia-Romagna Region with the company’s top management and the institutions. This does not help to build an orderly discussion on the reindustrialisation of the site and on the future of the workers. I make the Municipality of Bologna and the Metropolitan City available for the mobilization that the workers and the community of Crevalcore wish to undertake. Bologna will always defend work, let’s mobilize.”
Among the reasons were indicated: crisis of internal combustion enginesthe termination by Stellantis of production of Gse engines, and the general levels of investment in the sector. For Samuele Lodi, the closure of “a Marelli plant cannot be decided in this absolutely shameful manner”.
To fight against this situation, the unions propose “an expansion of the mobilization, because – concluded Lodi – it is clear that the issue of the Marelli workers of Crevalcore concerns all workers in Italy”.
The garrison before the Region
About 300-400 peopleall with one goal: avoid the risk of dismissal of all 230 employees, after the ownership, the American fund KKR, announced the closure of the plant in the province of Bologna.
