Workers Denounce Expired Childhood Covid-19 Vaccines in Zacatecas Ministry of Health

Workers of the Zacatecas Ministry of Health (SSZ) denounced this Wednesday that they received the order to apply childhood vaccines against Covid-19 that expired since November 2022.

One of those in charge of applying the biological who asked to keep her identity anonymous announced that the urban health center “Dr. Francisco Esparza Sánchez” from the municipality of Guadalupe, 400 doses of Pfizer arrived that belong to lot GA6772 with an expiration date of 11/2022

He said he did not know if the lots that were distributed in other health centers in Guadalupe or in other jurisdictions in the state of Zacatecas, the vaccines have the same expiration date.

We are concerned, we can understand that the extended date could be one or two months, but we are talking about almost a year… applying it to a child seemed very risky to me.

Given the refusal of some workers to apply the vaccine, they were sent a letter with “an application permit” from the Federal Commission for Protection Against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris).

What we demand is a document that tells us directly that we, who apply that vaccine, give us legal certainty in case something happens to a child… children are a vulnerable population

The health authorities responded that the consent signed by the parents before the application exempts them from any responsibility: “but parents are not being informed of the expiration date, it is like a hoax not to inform them,” he said.

He hopes that by making this irregularity public, parents will better assess whether or not they agree to vaccinate their children.
