NEW YORK – A member of a construction crew on a Manhattan building died after falling from a 15th floor Monday morning, New York City officials said.
The tragic accident occurred around 11:30 in a 23-story building West End avenue on the Upper West Side, confirmed spokesmen for the Fire Department, (FDNY, for its acronym in English) and the Department of Buildings, (DOB, for its acronym in English).
The victim’s identity was not immediately released.
A DOB spokesman said the worker was installing mesh on the 15th floor around support scaffolding at the time of the fall.
The owners of the building, the spokesman added, had active work permits for the repair of the facade and supporting scaffolding.
The case is under investigation.
