Worker falls from roof of commercial building in Brooklyn

A worker falls from the roof of a commercial building in Brooklyn.

At the scene, City Department of Buildings inspectors observed the worker fell through a hole in the roof where unauthorized roofing work was taking place.

The incident occurred on Third Avenue and 27th Street in the Greenwood sector.

Authorities reported that the worker fell approximately 25 feet into a dumpster that was inside the building. According to first responders, the worker was conscious when an ambulance arrived to take him to the hospital.

So far, three violations have been issued for work without a permit, lack of building maintenance, and unsafe storage of combustible materials.

Similarly, a full stop work order and a partial eviction order were filed at the site as a result of the incident.

Repair work was suspended.
