Civil engineering works for the third metro line of the Toulouse metropolitan area metro will begin in several sectors during the spring, normally in April. They will start in a staggered manner on all the stations and wells. The first stations concerned are Blagnac, Sept-Deniers Stade-Toulousain, Ponts-Jumeaux, La Vache, Raisin, Bonnefoy, Marengo-Matabiau and François Verdier.

“This is the largest urban transport infrastructure program in France after that of Grand Paris”declares Jean-Michel Lattes, the president of Tisseo, who met the companies in charge of the work on Monday 13 March. “During this meeting, we reminded the companies that beyond the technical prowess, the inhabitants of Toulouse will be attentive to the cleanliness, the quality, the reduction of nuisances and the exemplary nature of the site throughout the duration. What do the civil engineering works of the Toulouse metro consist of?

Civil engineering works correspond to the construction of the framework of the stations of Toulouse’s third metro line and the tunnels themselves. “The work will take place in two major phases: the installation phase of the worksites, lasting a few weeks, and the construction phase lasting five years,” explains Tisséo. “On December 15, 2022, the very first civil engineering site started in the Sept-Deniers district for the construction of a well for the intervention services located at the level of the Lateral Canal. »

It will be necessary to build 17 underground stations, 16 shafts, a viaduct for the five kilometer aerial section, four aerial stations, the metro tunnel and the train garage. The tunnel boring machine will be drilled underground in Toulouse with no perceptible effect on the surface. In general, the upper part of the tunnel is between ten and fifteen meters deep.
