Work, Parchitelli: «Maximum commitment to apply the law on equal treatment on sexual orientation in the sectors»

Note from the president of the VI Commission of the Puglia Region, Lucia Parchitelli:

«To take stock in the Commission on the implementation of Regional Law 25/2024 (“Provisions to guarantee the principle of equal opportunities and equal treatment in reference to sexual orientation, gender identity and variations in sex characteristics” ) regarding aspects relating to school, training and work has allowed us to project our gaze on the topic to the coming months as well”.

«With Arci Mixed Aps, the association requesting the hearing, with the Department of Labor Policies and Training, with Arpal and Adisu we discussed teacher training, projects to start psychological offices in Apulian universities and strengthening the counseling services present in Adisu».

With respect to the content of the Law, the Regional Employment Agency has already promulgated Guidelines for the adoption of gender language, and among the objectives is the creation of a listening center and an anti-violence help desk. In addition to creating Memoranda of Understanding, as done for women victims of violence, also for the LGBTQ+ community, creating a facilitation path for entry into the world of work that eliminates all forms of discrimination. We experienced a beautiful page dedicated to rights and what we can still do to best apply our law.”

«In a society that wants to be truly democratic and inclusive, the principle of equal opportunities and equal treatment must be a priority. We cannot allow a person’s sexual orientation to represent an obstacle to the realization of their potential, both in school and in the workplace. School must be the place where respect is taught, while the world of work must combat all forms of discrimination.”

«All together we must commit ourselves to promoting regional policies that promote equality and combat all forms of exclusion to build a society where the dignity and value of every person are universally recognized values».
