Work at the roundabout is progressing: That will change from next week

On Monday, the canton will begin the next construction phase of the redesign of the cantonal road between Aarau, Buchs and Suhr. This brings with it some changes.

Relief for drivers who want to go from Buchs to Suhr: From next Monday, October 7th, the construction site on the cantonal road will move towards Suhr. Construction phase 5 in the Bavaria-Kreisel sub-project, which is part of the redesign of the cantonal road, will then begin, as the canton announced in a statement.

And while improvements to the roadway and sidewalk are necessary in places on Buchserstrasse (around Nordallee to Florastrasse), the work on the front roundabout is going according to plan, the canton is pleased. The construction company KIBAG is exactly on schedule as agreed, and the temporary traffic routing has so far worked without any major traffic problems.

The phase lasts until March 2025 – and therefore a little longer than the last, because on the one hand the sewer system there has to be replaced on behalf of the municipality of Suhr and some factory lines have to be relocated. And on the other hand, because the Südallee access to the Cantonal Hospital must be kept open at all times.

Bus stop will be removed

The canton continues to write that traffic in the construction site area (Suhrerstrasse/Tramstrasse) will be in two lanes on the side facing the municipal border of Buchs. And: “In the Südallee junction area, work is carried out on one side so that all previous driving connections remain possible.”

At the same time, essential elements of the new traffic routing are being put into operation, it goes on to say. The new Bavaria roundabout is now temporarily in operation – this means that the ban on turning left from Buchs to Suhr has been lifted, and Aarauerstrasse and Buchserstrasse are now fully accessible again. There is also a change for public transport, according to the canton: “The old Bavaria bus stop (BBA line 4 to Suhr) on Suhrerstrasse will be closed. The new Bavaria bus stops are both located on Buchserstrasse and are served by the two BBA lines 1 Buchs Wynenfeld and 4 Suhr Bahnhof.»
