To guarantee a balanced healthcare offering to its fellow citizens, the elected representatives of the North-East Béarn Community of Communes have committed to building a multidisciplinary health centre in the commune of Soumoulou.
This investment, estimated at 3.4 million euros, is part of an approach to anticipate the problems of medical demography, generating significant difficulties in accessing care. The vision of the community consists of the construction of a contemporary building with a surface area of 1,200 m², providing a response to the organizational needs of future health professionals who will rent these premises (individual and common spaces). To this end, it has chosen to be supported in the realization of this project by the Société d’équipement des pays de l’Adour (Sepa), as well as by M & M Architectes.
Around thirty professionals
In total, this establishment will accommodate around thirty healthcare professionals grouped into the Interprofessional Society for Outpatient Care (Sisa) for some: general practitioners, nurses, dieticians, podiatrists, gynecologists, midwives, psychomotor therapists, speech therapists, emergency room, etc. A land reserve of 120 m² will also be used to accommodate new professionals. Co-financed by the Pyrénées-Atlantiques Departmental Council, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, the State and Europe, the work was launched on June 3, to the great satisfaction of elected officials and all residents. The opening is scheduled for summer 2025.
As a reminder, according to the Public Health Code, “the Health Center is a legal entity formed between medical professionals, medical auxiliaries or pharmacists. They provide care activities, without accommodation, of first resort, and of second resort can participate in public health actions, prevention, health education and social actions within the framework of the health project”.
