Work on meeting between Zelensky and Vučić is underway, but it is not easy – Ambassador

Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia Volodymyr Tolkach said diplomats are working on organizing a meeting between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Volodymyr Zelensky.

This, as reported byEuropean truth“, he told in an interview with the publication Nova.

Commenting on Vučić’s words that he had not spoken to Zelensky for a long time, the Ukrainian ambassador noted that “diplomats may not have done everything they should have done to make this conversation happen.”

“However, the situation we are in is not easy for this conversation, because it should be filled with specific things that should be well thought out, given the situation in Ukraine,” Tolkach added.

He confirmed that the diplomats were given the task of organizing a meeting between the presidents of Serbia and Ukraine, “and we are working on it.”

“There are many issues that need to be discussed not only with the president, but also with many ministries and ministers. These are primarily economic issues, our joint cooperation with international organizations, and, of course, there are also political issues. All these issues should be specified and a telephone conversation or a meeting between the presidents should be organized,” the ambassador added.

Tolkach also noted that the dialogue between Ukraine and Serbia can be built on things that “are of common interest in the international arena,” for example, mutual support by Serbia and Ukraine for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the two states.

“We know that Serbia supports Ukraine in this sense and votes for resolutions at the UN. On the other hand, Ukraine supports Serbia when it comes to the territorial integrity of Serbia regarding Kosovo and Metohija,” the head of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Belgrade said.

Earlier, a possible visit of Volodymyr Zelensky and Aleksandar Vucic was not reported.
