Work-Life Balance: Study Reveals Impact of Professional Mental Load on Personal Lives

Well-being at work, and in particular the notion of professional mental load, is increasingly taken into account at a time when employees are looking for a healthier balance between professional and private life. A new study carried out jointly by Mooncard and Ifop unveiled this Thursday, June 29 highlights several figures as the summer break approaches. One of them illustrates an edifying point of the weight of professional life in the intimate life of certain employees: one in seven respondents (14%) admit thinking about work while having sex.

This barometer on professional mental workload, already produced by Ifop in 2021, reflects the intrusive role that work can play in the lives and health of employees. So, 83%, i.e. 8 out of 10 French people questioned report having difficulty falling asleep at night, and 91% admit to thinking about work on weekends.

Evaluate your professional mental load index

Results which, compared with professional mental load index created by the institute’s teams, show that these symptoms very often result from too high a professional workload: executives who reported thinking about work during sex in 2021 had for example obtained an index of 7 out of 10.

To test your level of professional mental workload, Ifop has set up a short questionnaire, available iciwhich allows you to be fixed in a few questions about your situation.
