The project was visited today by the Mayor Dimitris Papageorgiou, the Deputy Mayor Giorgos Arletos and the Head of the Technical Service Orestes Brikos.
“We are giving citizens another important task. A project that enhances safety, solves traffic problems and reduces the city’s energy footprint. It was completed in a short period of time and without problems and I have to thank the contractor and the Technical Service of our Municipality” said the Mayor of Ioannina Dimitris Papageorgiou in his statements.
The roundabout at “Meeting” is included in the project “Creation of level roundabouts” funded by the Operational Program “Epirus”.
The outer diameter is 42 meters and the inaccessible inner islet has a diameter of 23 meters. The width of the traffic lanes of the inner ring is 8.50 meters. Pedestrian crossings are being built in all branches.
Mayor’s statement on partnerships
During the statements, the Mayor was asked about the expansion of cooperation in view of the October elections and on the occasion of the decision of SYRIZA not to come down with its own faction.
In his statement, Mr. Papageorgiou stated:
“Ioannina is changing. And they change decisively. It is not only the projects that have been executed or are being executed, nor is it only the interventions that are made and the design that evolves.
The vision of the late Moses Elisaf highlighted local government as it should be: independent, unguarded, non-partisan and accountable only to the citizens.
Our only goal therefore remains the interest of the city and the service of the citizens.
In the run-up to the October elections, the aim is to expand in all directions. We address all creative citizens, in all political spaces. We are a faction without party commitments and dependencies. This is how we ask for everyone’s support and seek to expand to all areas. What we want is cooperation with everyone and with our unique flag, Ioannina”.
