Work in progress on the southern bypass of Chartres, between Le Coudray and Morancez

The Interdepartmental Directorate of North-West Roads (DIRNO) began Tuesday, April 19 the repair of the bridges of the arm of the Eure, on the RN 123, at the ring road south of Chartres, between Le Coudray and Morancez. A project called to continue until October 30.

Disturbed traffic

Throughout the duration of the works, traffic (as well as the insertion in this sector) is neutralized on a voice over a distance of approximately one kilometer, in the Paris-Dreux direction, at the level of the work zone. Traffic disruptions, more substantial during rush hours, are to be expected.

Reinforcement of nozzles

This project aims to internally reinforce two metal nozzles, with a reinforced concrete shell for each of them. This work was decided after the last inspections carried out on these culverts, built a little over 50 years ago, which revealed the presence of internal and evolving pathologies at the level of the tidal zones. Hence the overall repair undertaken in the short term, in order to guarantee the safety of users and the proper functioning of the works.

Steps

. This will be followed by the creation of an access track and a site platform. The sludge, contained in the two metal nozzles, as well as those present in their immediate surroundings, will be evacuated, to allow the construction of the reinforced concrete shells.

The nozzle heads, visible in the form of embankments, will initially be concreted. In a second step, they will be secured by the installation of stairs and railings.

Diagnoses prior to the repair project and of various kinds were carried out. An inventory of the fauna and flora, water and sediment analyses, as well as a search for asbestos were also carried out. In addition, specifies the North-West Dir, that a plantation of approximately 70 trees will be carried out in compensation for the felling necessary to carry out the work.
