The director of the Vatican Museums Barbara Yata has received from Italian donors an author’s copy of a work by Hristo Yavashev for the museum’s collection.
This is the first work of the Bulgarian-born world-famous artist, which enters the prestigious museum, visited by over 6.5 million tourists a year. The official guest of the donation act was the Bulgarian Ambassador to the Vatican Bogdan Patashev.

The webinar was organized by the Bulgarian Embassy in the Vatican, together with the embassies of France and the United States and the Vatican Museums, and the technical organization was provided by the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The donated work is an author’s copy signed by Hristo Yavashev under number 31 on a packed box with videos of the Vatican Museums under a project from 2016.
The copy was purchased by donors with the assistance of Msgr. Vigano, who is now vice-chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and former director of the Vatican Communications Service. Mons. Vigano was a guest at the webinar in the Bulgarian panel, during which the documentary about Christo and Jean-Claude by Georgi Toshev and Emma Konstantinova was presented.

Hristo Yavashev realizes the so-called packing of the Vatican Museums in 2016 in the Vatican with the assistance of Msgr. Vigano signed 300 original copies, which were handed over to the Christie’s auction house.
About 200,000 euros were raised from their sale and handed over to Pope Francis in response to his appeal to raise funds for a children’s hospital in Bangui in the Central African Republic. The presentation of the work was also attended by Msgr. Dario Vigano, two representatives of the donors who bought the copy, and the curator of the collection for contemporary art of the Vatican Museums, Mikol Forti.
