In “Charles Matin” this Tuesday on RMC and RMC Story, Emmanuel Lechypre looks at work absences, up 8% in 2022.
On average, employees were absent for 24.5 days in 2022. This is 8% more than the previous year and 75% more than in 2011, according to the barometer just published by Ayming/AG2R La Mondiale. This is an average, but more and more employees are affected: almost 50% against 37% in 2021.
It’s as if in a company of 100 employees, seven were missing every day What weighs in these figures are obviously the long-term stoppages, almost 100 days on average, but it is above all the short-term stoppages, from one to three days, which are more and more numerous.
Many reasons
Why are employees increasingly absent? They are multiple. Since the Covid, the threshold of acceptability of the arduousness of employees has fallen and the link with the company has been stretched. We make less effort than before to go and work a little “woozy”.
There is also the stress generated by technological changes, such as digitization, which disrupts the way of working. It’s not always easy to adapt. Recruitment difficulties, which transfer the workload to other employees, also explain these absences. Just like the complacency of the doctors (more stops on Monday and Friday), but also their caution in the face of new risks.
