The US filmmaker Woody Allen, who is controversial because of allegations of abuse, would shoot another film in his hometown of New York – if a “crazy” can be found to finance the shooting. He already has a “great idea,” said Allen on Monday at the Venice Film Festival when asked if he would make another film in the metropolis.
“If someone steps out of the shadows and says we’re funding your movie in New York and if these people follow all my horrible rules – they can’t read the script, they can’t know who’s in it, they just give me the money and going – if anyone is crazy enough to agree to that, I’m going to shoot a movie in New York,” Allen said.
In Venice, the US director is presenting “Coup de Chance”, his 50th film – and the first he shot in French. It was “very easy” to work in French, said the old master. “I could understand when the actors were realistic and when they weren’t by looking at their body language and emotions.”
Allen, now 87, was investigated in the 1990s for allegations that he molested his adopted daughter. The investigation was later dropped, but Allen became an undesirable in much of the US film industry.
