CDMX. Director Woody Allen has announced that he intends to retire from the world of cinema after filming his 50th film.
This weekend, the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia published an interview with Woody Allen, in which the director confessed that he plans to retire very soon due to the lack of emotion in today’s cinema.
According to the report, the 86-year-old director will try to focus on writing, as he believes the film market has changed dramatically and “human stories are no longer made”, but for collective taste.
This announcement marks the confirmation of the retirement of Woody Allen, who in 2021 hinted at the fact during a live show with actor Alec Baldwin, to whom he expressed that his 50th film could be the last of his career.
Similarly, Woody Allen has been the subject of controversy due to the scandal generated by the allegations of his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, who claimed to have been abused by the director of Midnight in Paris.
The Oscar winner explained during the interview that his latest project will be the film Wasp22, which will be shot in Europe, according to Production Weekly.
Details about Allen’s latest film are still unknown, however it is known that it could be shot in some locations located in Paris, France.
It should be remembered that Woody Allen has spoken out, on several occasions, against current cinema and its distribution on digital platforms.
