Woods took the lead on Tirren after the climb

The Canadian cyclist Michael Woods took the lead in the standings after a triumph in the climbing finish of the third stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico race. In the end, today he defeated the Pole Rafal Majka by one second, who was the only one of his rivals to catch up with him. In the overall evaluation, he is five seconds ahead of him.

Woods attacked Muro di Poggio Murella on the last steep climb with a slope of up to 20 percent and was already alone at the top. Only Majka managed to catch up with him in the downhill, but on the way to the finish line in Saturn, the driver of the EF Pro Cycling stable dominated again.

The first group of pursuers, including the 2018 Tour de France champion Geraint Thomas, lost 20 seconds. “The last climb was really hard. Woods kicked it about 500 meters before the top and I was already quite at the limit, I didn’t want to shut up,” said Thomas, who finished tenth.
