Woodhouse surprises Price partly thanks to nine-darter on PDC Home Tour | NOW

Luke Woodhouse delivered a surprise on the PDC Home Tour on Saturday. The Englishman humiliated Gerwyn Price partly thanks to a nine-darter with 5-0 and partly as a result of this he won group 2 in the new digital darts tournament.

Woodhouse recorded the perfect leg against Price in the fourth leg with scores of 177, 177 and 147. He celebrated that feat by cheering in front of his webcam and secured the win in the subsequent leg with a 127 finish to come out on a high average of 113.9 points.

The number 57 in the world won its three games. He also defeated Ted Evetts (5-2) and Rowby-John Rodriguez (5-2) and thereby qualified in the wake of Jamie Lewis – the Welshman became first in Group 1 on the opening night on Friday – for the second phase of the tournament .

Price, the global number three, also settled with Evetts (5-2) and Rodriguez (5-2). It was of no use to him, although ‘The Iceman’ may not have been switched off yet, and he may take action again in the coming weeks. Not all 128 Tour card holders at the PDC have registered.

Final score Group 2

  • 1. Luke Woodhouse 3-6 (+11)
  • 2. Gerwyn Price 3-4 (+1)
  • 3. Ted Evetts 3-2 (-4)
  • Rowby-John Rodriguez 3-0 (-8)

Wright was also unable to fulfill his favorite role

Price isn’t the only one who couldn’t live up to his favorite role. Neither did Peter Wright on Friday. The world champion lost no less than 1–5 to Lewis and must, just like Price, hope that he will receive an invitation to play again.

Like Friday, the connection was lousy on Saturday. During the interviews before and after the duels, the players were barely recognizable and it was also difficult to see where the arrows ended up in the board. Unlike Friday, however, the picture did not disappear this time.

The Home Tour is an alternative during the corona crisis. In the first phase, groups of four players are played 32 days in a row. All group winners reach the second phase, the format of which is still unknown, because it is not clear when it will be possible to play again in real life.
