The broken boom that killed a woman on a sailing ship in Harlingen was uncovered to have been impacted by wooden rot, the Dutch Security Board (general public transport) announced on Friday. Twelve-yr-old Tara was killed in the incident on August 31.
The female died immediately from her accidents. She was on a 7 days of sailing with eleven other pupils. None of the other pupils were being hurt.
The OVV has earlier investigated these types of incidents. On 21 August 2016 and 20 March 2019, a complete of four men and women were being killed when element of the tree broke off and landed on them. In each situations these broke off because they have been influenced by the rotting of the wooden.
The incident is nevertheless less than investigation. In doing so, the OVV assesses no matter if and how related incidents can be prevented in the potential.
