Woo Sang-Hyeok Wins Gold in High Jump at 2023 Asian Athletics Championships

‘Smile Jumper’ Woo Sang-hyeok (Yongin City Hall) took back the top in six years in the high jump at the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships.

Woo Sang-hyeok won the men’s high jump final in Bangkok, Thailand on the 15th, over 2m28, beating Anil Kusare (India) and Tawan Kaeodam (Thailand, over 2m26).

Woo Sang-hyeok, who easily crossed 2m15, 2m19, 2m23, 2m26, and 2m28 in the first round, raised the bar to 2m33 after winning, but unfortunately failed.

Woo Sang-hyuk won the Asian Championships in six years since the 2017 Bhubaneswar Games (2m30) in India, and it is also the first time in six years since 2017 that Korean athletics won the Asian Championships gold medal.

Woo Sang-hyeok will return to Korea on the afternoon of the 17th and continue preparing for the Budapest World Championships to be held in Hungary in August and the Asian Games in Hangzhou, which will open in September.
