‘Wonder Of The Seas’, the largest cruise ship in the world, is ready to sail | Abroad

The ‘Wonder Of The Seas’, the world’s largest cruise ship, begins its maiden voyage from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to the Caribbean on March 4. The ship was built on behalf of Royal Caribbean. After a total of nine years of development and construction, the ship is now ready to sail.

The ‘Wonder Of The Seas’ has been called the largest cruise ship in the world. That is not wrong. The ship is 360 meters long and has no less than 18 decks and 8 themed areas. Approximately 6,988 guests will enjoy a zip line, a huge swimming pool, a cinema screen and even the “highest slide in the sea” during their stay. There will also be approximately 2,300 crew members and personnel on board each time.

“From planning to delivery, we have used our expertise within Royal Caribbean, along with suggestions from our guests and feedback from travel partners, to create something that is truly impressive,” Mark Tamis, the cruise line’s senior vice president of Hotel Operations, told CNN Travel. They spared no expense to ensure that ‘Wonder Of The Seas’ would be a success, according to Tamis.

Activities and Restaurants

‘Wonder Of The Seas’ passengers can enjoy nearly 30 activities, including several thrill parks for young and old, retail boutiques, fitness centers and spas, a casino, mini golf, and water and figure skating shows. The ship offers a choice of more than 20 restaurants with different tastes around the world. Guests will also be able to enjoy a drink or cocktail in fifteen bars and lounges and the ship will have its own Starbucks.

From May, the ‘Wonder Of The Seas’ will travel around the world, with destinations including Barcelona and Rome. The seven-night trip from Fort Lauderdale will cost $800 (or $710) per person.

A sector under fire

Normally the ‘Wonder Of The Seas’ would have started sailing in 2021, but the pandemic caused many delays. Over the past two years, the cruise industry, like many others, has been under tremendous pressure as a result of the coronavirus. Even when it was allowed to travel again, traveling with a cruise ship was strongly discouraged due to the great risk of contamination.

Now that the corona figures are starting to move in the right direction, the industry can sail again. Although the corona measures will certainly remain in force. For example, most cruise lines require passengers to be vaccinated before boarding their ship, with the exception of children under 12.
