TOKYO – Indonesian male lifter, Eko Yuli Irawan, managed to win a silver medal from the sport of weightlifting 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Appearing on Sunday (25/7/2021) afternoon WIB, Eko Yuli, who went down in the 61 kg class, successfully recorded a total force of 302 kg.

Eko Yuli recorded the total force through a 137 kg snatch attempt and a 165 kg clean and jerk effort. Eko Yuli had to admit the strength of the lifter from China, Li Fabin, who won the gold medal with a total force of 313 kg.

Appearing in Group A in the 61 kg class, Eko Yuli succeeded in trying his first snatch. Eko Yuli, who immediately tried to lift the 137 kg weight, successfully passed it perfectly in the first trial.

Eko Yuli’s strongest challenger, Li Fabin, also tried to directly lift the iron weighing 137 kg. However, Li Fabin failed on his first attempt with the batch.

Unfortunately, when trying to lift a weight of 141 kg, Eko Yuli actually failed after taking a long time to square off. In his last attempt, Eko Yuli again failed to lift a weight of 141 kg.

As a result, Eko Yuli had to settle for ending the snatch at 137 kg. He was in second place in the snatch session because Li Fabin successfully lifted 141 kg in his third attempt.

Of course, the results in the snatch made it difficult for Eko Yuli to win a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The reason is that there is a 4 kg difference that Eko Yuli has to chase to match Li Fabin’s total in the clean and jerk class.

In his first attempt in the clean and jerk class, Eko Yuli successfully lifted 165 kg. Then in the second test, where the weight of the load became 177 kg, Eko Yuli actually failed.

Meanwhile, Li Fabin in the second attempt managed to lift a weight of 172 kg and it made him successful in breaking records in the Olympics.

In his last attempt, Eko Yuli again failed to lift 177 kg. As a result, the silver medal became the best result that could be achieved by Eko Yuli. While Li Fabin in the third try, he also failed to lift the weight of 178 kg, but the result still earned him the right to bring the gold medal.

That way, Eko Yuli also brought home a silver medal from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Then the gold medal went to the Chinese athlete, Li Fabin, and the bronze was won by a lifter from Kazakhstan, Son Igor.
