League leaders Chelsea will look to extend their unbeaten streak record in the Women’s Super League to 34 matches when they host Brighton at Kingsmeadow, which kicks off at 2pm GMT on February 7.
The Blues are in irresistible form after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in their final Women’s Super League game on January 31, before continuing with a resounding 6-0 victory over West Ham United in the semi-final of the Continental League Cup in February. 3.
Their form stands in stark contrast to Brighton, who have lost six of their last seven Women’s Super League games, most recently losing 3-0 to the bottom-of-the-table Bristol City on January 30.
The city of Bristol looks to take advantage of Brighton’s victory in the Women’s Super League
Bristol City themselves have enjoyed back-to-back victories in all competitions and secured their place in the Continental League Cup Final after defeating Women’s Championship leaders Leicester City 1-0 on February 3.
Kiera Skeels scored the winning goal in what was her first City goal since coming on loan from Reading, and her attention now returns to the Women’s Super League in a crucial bottom-of-the-table clash at West Ham on 7 February. -at 3 pm GMT.
Another victory would be enough to knock Matt Beard’s team off the foot of the Women’s Super League table.
Aston Villa in action against Tottenham Hotspur
Aston Villa host Tottenham Hotspur in the opening Women’s Super League match of the weekend knowing that just a win would definitely prevent them from replacing City at the bottom of the table.
Tottenham had enjoyed a resurgence in form since the appointment of Rehanne Skinner as head coach after securing three straight wins, but came back to earth with the aforementioned 4-0 loss to Chelsea last time out.
The action begins at Banks’ Stadium on February 6, at 12.30pm GMT.
Manchester United have a royal visit
Manchester United v Reading kick off Sunday’s Women’s Super League action at Leigh Sports Village, and Casey Stoney’s team will be looking for a third straight win to keep the pressure on Chelsea, after beating Birmingham City and Everton by a score of 2 -0.
Reading enters the game sitting sixth in the table and shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on January 23 in their final match.
Everton se enfrenta a Birmingham City
The other start at 2pm on February 7 will see Everton host Birmingham City. Both teams have struggled to get in shape in recent weeks after registering just one win in the last five games and suffering losses the last time.
The Toffees were defeated 2-0 by Man United on January 31, while Birmingham was beaten by the same opponents and the scoreboard a week earlier.
