The whole situation was explained by Sylwester Marczak from the Warsaw Police Headquarters, who in an interview with TVN24 said that the policemen had intervened against the “aggressor” and were wearing armbands proving that they belonged to the service. – It depends on the dynamics of activities – he assessed. He said that their action was correct, lawful, related to a person aggressive towards a uniformed officer.
Onet journalist Marcin Terlik was also there. – I have witnessed several brutal detentions. It was as if the police were pulling individuals out of the crowd and people trying to “snatch” the person. A struggle began, at times dangerous, because the policemen used sticks, reports Terlik.
He points out that there were a lot of plainclothes policemen entering the action during the protest. According to our journalist, Marta Lempart stood up for the attacked man in front of the Gromada hotel during one clash. – Negotiated with the police who blocked the passage to the man. She wanted to make sure that he was not severely beaten or detained – says the journalist.
During a protest in Warsaw, when the police used tear gas, they suffered, among others Onet operator and journalist Bartosz Rumieńczyk. – After the demonstration in front of the TVP building, the crowd wanted to slowly withdraw and disperse, but the police blocked the passage, and the crowd moved to a side street. According to the journalist Onet, there were secret police officers in the crowd who pulled out individuals using direct coercion measures. – There were several violent shorts.
