(RP) After a two-week break, the rowing Bundesliga met in Minden. For the men there was a repetition of the final from Dortmund. The Riemax-Achter Osnabrück called on the Münster-Achter to take revenge. In a thrilling final, however, it was again the Münster team who had their bow over the entire 350 m sprint distance in front. The team has thus expanded its lead in the standings to two points. The duel for third place was won by the local hero, Melitta-Achter Minden, ahead of the team from Hamburg.

After finishing eighth on the first day of the race, the men’s eighth of the Crefeld rowing club was unable to defend the desired position in the first half of the field. In the round of 16 the course was set with a very narrow defeat against Hanover. In the end, taxwoman Anna Lülfing’s team landed in twelfth place. In the table, the Krefeld team slide down to eleventh place. “We still have every chance of working our way up to a place in the top half of the table. The scores are very close together. We have to get up to speed faster, especially on the first ten laps. That will now be the focus of training, ”said Anna Lülfing, referring to the chances for the last day of the race.

Banner Wiking Linz provided a little surprise for the women. The team from Austria defeated the reigning league champions of 2019, the HavelQueen-Achter Berlin, in the final, winning gold for the first time in its league history. And not only that – the team led by tax woman Theresa Danninger is now leader of the table, tied on points with the Berlin women. That promises an extremely exciting league final in three weeks in Münster.

The Crefeld rowing club, who came as the leader of the table, was a little weak in Minden. With fourth place, however, the Krefeld women retained the chance of overall victory. The team of coach Markus Wöstemeyer is now in third place on the table, one point behind Linz and Berlin. With a win on the last day of the race in Münster, the CRC can no longer take victory in the Bundesliga in 2021.

Wöstemeyer is optimistic: “We had to compete in Minden with a minimal cast. That means we couldn’t switch. That cost too many grains overall. In Münster, however, we will be able to compete in our old strength again and take advantage of the opportunity. ”For fourth place, the team was rewarded with the“ golden pineapple ”at the end – consolation prize for the missed medal.
