Women’s college basketball standings, week 8: North Carolina, Arkansas down, Michigan up

This week, the women’s college basketball standings saw a lot of changes. Two teams dropped seven spots in the AP Poll, while one team moved up five.

South Carolina remained unanimously number one for the 27th consecutive week, which is the fifth-longest streak in polling history. The Gamecocks topped Texas’ 26-week series to take fifth place.

The top 5 was unchanged for the fourth straight week, with Stanford, Ohio State, Indiana and Notre Dame all finishing 2-5.

The second half of the top 10 features no new teams, but each team earned a spot. LSU moved to ninth, its best ranking of the season. The Tigers enter conference play undefeated for the first time in 20 years.

UNC fell seven spots to 13th after losing to Michigan at the Jumpman Invitational. The win moved Wolverines up five spots to 14th. Michigan’s Rise lost ground to Iowa State, Maryland, and Oregon.

Gonzaga and Oklahoma each moved up three places to 19th and 20th, respectively. Gonzaga finished non-conference play with two wins, improving to 12-2 on the year. The Sooners got a big win over Florida in the Jumpman Invitational.

Arkansas dropped seven spots to 24th after losing both games this week. The Razorbacks lost to Oregon and South Florida in the San Diego Invitational after starting the season undefeated. They start conference play on Thursday against LSU.

Notable women’s college basketball games this week
