Xalapa, Ver.- In the first ordinary session of the H. Advisory Council of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), the head of the Evaluation Unit of Decentralized Bodies, Luisa Alejandra Guadalupe Obrador Garrido Cuesta, protested against the new head of the regional representation in Northern Veracruz , Dr. Jorge Martínez Torres, whose commitment is to work to strengthen the care of beneficiaries.
Martínez Torres, stressed: “We can compromise with all the forces of the state and work for the rights of Veracruz Norte, in addition to the fact that I come to add and I am very convinced of teamwork.”
It should be remembered that on December 13, 2022, in the ordinary session of the S. Technical Council, chaired by the director of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo approved his appointment and wished him success in his new duties.
It should be noted that the new head of North Veracruz, during “Operation Chapultepec” conducted to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, led a contingent of 53 doctors and nurses who jointly supported Mexico City and the State of Mexico.
Dr. Jorge Martínez Torres has more than 36 years of experience at the Institute, he has been responsible for medical services in Puebla, Quintana Roo and Yucatán. He was also the office manager for the IMSS delegation in Oaxaca and from February 2020 to December 2022 he was the IMSS representative in Nayarit.
Martínez Torres is originally from Xalapa, Veracruz; graduated from the “Miguel Alemán Valdés” Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Veracruzana (Veracruz Campus), he has a specialization in Family Medicine and a Masters in Medical Sciences and Research; He joined the IMSS in 1986 as a general practitioner in Family Medicine Unit no. 57 of Jáltipan, Veracruz.
Likewise, he held various managerial positions at the headquarters of the Health Services such as: Consultant for Medical Research, coordinator of Health Research, Prevention and Health Care, Management and Health Care, as well as author of various publications in specialized medical journals.
During the formal act were present: the Secretary of Health and Director General of the Health Services of Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave, Dr. Gerardo Díaz Morales; the head of the Coordination of Collegiate Bodies of the Sacred Technical Council, Mr. Alfonso Alcocer Díaz and the Director of UMAE n. 14, Dr. Victor Bernal Dolores.
