All those who, on the eve of Mother’s Day, acquired the happy status of mothers, were congratulated on May 12 in the obstetrics and gynecology department of the Volodymyr TMO. The mayor of the city Ihor Palyonka came with gifts and flowers for the new mothers together with the members of the NGO “Union of Ukrainian Women” led by the deputy head of this organization Vira Chaikovskaya-Tarlykova, as well as the priest of the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ Father Bohdan.
At the end of the second week of May, three girls and a boy were born in Volodymyr. For their mothers, this is not the first birth, so older brothers and sisters are eagerly waiting for them at home. Everyone who came to congratulate the mother on Mother’s Day prayed together for the health of newborn Ukrainians. I read the prayer Father Bohdan and gave mothers spiritual literature.
“On Mother’s Day, we once again have the opportunity to thank our dearest mothers for the life they gave us, for their kindness and sleepless nights. I sincerely congratulate you on a joyful event in your life – with a new addition to your family. I wish for good health, strength, patience, and for the children to grow up happily in a peaceful, free, independent Ukraine, for which our soldiers are currently fighting,” said the mayor Ihor Palyonka in the welcome speech.
Four mothers received flowers and gifts from the mayor. He thanked Ihor Palyonka and the members of the NGO “Soyuz Ukrainok” – the organization that almost a hundred years ago introduced the beautiful Mother’s Day holiday in Ukraine, which was later canceled by the Soviet government. But with the declaration of independence, this day began to be revived from oblivion and has been officially celebrated for more than 20 years.
So for active citizenship and tireless work in preserving the cultural traditions and spiritual heritage of the Ukrainian people, thanks and monetary prizes were awarded Valentina Zalunin, Tetiana Pasievych and Maria Luchynets.
The deputy head of the All-Ukrainian organization “Union of Ukrainian Women” joined the congratulatory speech Faith Chaikovska-Tarlykova: “Today you gave Ukraine the most valuable thing – children who will build this country in the future. I believe that a victorious peace will soon come, because it cannot be otherwise. I admire your courage and bravery, because having dared to give birth to a child in the difficult time of war, you prove that life and love will definitely win!”
In memory of this day, mothers received another special gift – the first embroidered clothes for their children, which were hand-embroidered by the “allies”. We will remind you that the local branch of the Union of Ukrainian Women started the tradition of congratulating mothers on Mother’s Day and giving newborns embroidered shirts more than ten years ago.
