Regarding International Women’s Day, breast and cervical cancer are the main diseases that affect this group of the population in Tlaxcala. For this reason, the health sector promotes prevention actions that help identify timely detection, risk factors, while having self-care and modifying lifestyles.
According to the World Health Organization, Cancer is a process of uncontrollable growth and spread of cells. In the breast, cells multiply uncontrollably, it can start in different parts of the breast. In fact, in Mexico it is the main cause of death in women aged 25 and over.

While Cervical uterine is a malignant tumor that begins in the cervix of the womb, it is more frequent in women over 30 years of age; the main cause is the human papillomavirus (HPV), which can be passed from one person to another during sexual intercourse. The discomforts are abnormal bleeding between periods, after having sexual intercourse, among other factors.
That’s why, the specialist of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), Edgar Lezama, urged women to empower themselves in terms of health, in such a way that they have timely detections before the conditions that can harm them; hence the importance of attending preventive services.
Just as we talk about the social empowerment of women, there must also be empowerment of health, they must go to receive preventive care, not only go when they already feel bad, but every year in a programmatic manner request specialized care. In this sense, explained that the pathologies that also affect women due to lifestyles are liver cancer, in addition to being overweight, obesity and diabetes. The recommendation is to attend preventive services at least once a year.
Then he reported that from the age of 20, women should approach the preventive services of the IMSS or the health sector; for breast cancer, self-examination is from the age of 20, then go for an examination every year, while mammography is indicated from the age of 40. For cervical cancer, after the age of 25, a Pap smear should be performed to detect abnormalities.

In the case of breast cancer, the recommendation of the health sector is that women should maintain their ideal weight, reduce the consumption of fats of animal origin, increase the consumption of fiber such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables; exercise for 30 to 60 minutes; reduce alcohol consumption and not smoke.
As for the cervical uterus, the recommendation is to have a pap smear test once a year, limit the number of sexual partners, practice protected sexual relations, avoid sexual relations with people who have had many sexual partners.give up smoking.
