Women in science: promotion initiatives at Bibliothèques / UdeM – Bibliothèques

The Health Sciences and Science Libraries team is pleased to highlight theInternational Day of Women and Girls in Science and the International Women’s Day! From February 11 to March 8, 2021, it will deploy a series of initiatives highlighting the involvement of women in the fields of science.

To mark these two days, the Science Library will present a large format illustration, created by the artist Kay Nau, showcasing contemporary women scientists. The women pictured were selected by the departments of chemistry, geography, physics and biological sciences of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. This selection was made under the initiative of Mr.me Mirjam Fines-Neuschild, doctoral student at the University of Montreal in individualized studies in physics and communication. You can see this work and learn more about this equity, diversity and inclusion project by visiting thevirtual exhibition designed for the occasion!

The Libraries / UdeM are also proud to add the article by M to the Wikipedia encyclopediameAnne-Marie Mes-Masson. The latter is a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Montreal, Scientific Director of the Montreal Cancer Institute and head of the Cancer axis of the CHUM Research Center. This article is in addition to the references created as part of the friendly campaign #1Lib1Ref for free knowledge. As part of this year’s friendly campaign, participating Quebec institutions added sources and made improvements to more than thirty Wikipedia articles dedicated to women from various backgrounds!
