Karel Roden celebrates his life anniversary. Our most respected actor, who has also had a decent career in Hollywood movies, is 60 years old. However, the actor definitely does not look like his age and fortunately his charisma is not diminishing.
A few weeks ago, he appeared at the premiere of the film Expired, where he again showed that he simply does not look his age. He was wearing a checkered shirt and jeans, he looked very good, but as is his custom, he looked unavailable. He stayed for the first screening, photo shoot and was gone. He allegedly had other job responsibilities.
Even during the filming, Roden behaved strangely. He transcribed and edited the dialogues, filmed most of the scenes in the car, and his clothes had to be comfortable for him to travel in. He arrived in costume and never changed. He fell in love with his film outfit during filming so much that he bought it after filming.
Roden was born into an acting family
Roden was born on May 18, 1962 in České Budějovice into an acting family. Dad and grandfather were actors. He graduated from the Secondary Industrial School of Ceramics and was subsequently accepted to DAMU. So he belonged to the group of the biggest acting stars. These included Ivana Chýlková, Vilma Cibulková, Eva Holubová and Veronika Žilková.
In the 1990s, the actor went out into the world to experience, specifically in Great Britain. He attended acting courses there and worked on his English. When he returned, he returned to the theater. However, he was noticed by director Dušan Klein, who cast him in the role of Honza’s student in the film How Poets Lose Illusions.
He excels in comedies and tragic roles
This was followed by Captain Tůma from the comedy Copak je je za vojold, where he also appeared in a comic role. He usually gets dark and dramatic pieces. His distinctive expression and behavior predestine him to them. Thanks to him, they basically noticed him in a Hollywood production. He played in a psychological thriller 15 minutes alongside Robert De Niro. This was followed by the role of a lawyer in the film Blade 2 or the character of the mad Nazi Strucker in Bulletproof Monk.
Roden’s first partner was Ivana Chýlková, his classmate from DAMU. Jana Krausová followed, and now she is said to live with dentist Laura Čekanová, with whom she is raising two children. Sofia and Charles.
In his spare time, he enjoys painting, horseback riding and also understands wines. It even has its own brand. However, you can only get a bottle with Roden in better wine shops.
