The body of a 19-year-old woman was discovered last week in New York City, in an abandoned market. The corpse was wrapped in plastic.
In the past, this fish market was teeming with excitement and noise. Today, it is nothing more than a concrete block, tagged and falling into ruins. It was there, behind the walls and shattered windows of Manhattan’s Fulton Fish Market, that the lifeless body of a 19-year-old was discovered last week. It was wrapped in plastic and had been abandoned there, reports ABC7. Authorities said on Saturday they had identified the victim as 19-year-old Rosalee Sanchez. It was her boyfriend and another person who discovered the corpse and called for help. The man, who is not considered a suspect, explained to the authorities that the young woman had been “driven” into the abandoned building several days ago. But the “New York PostIndicates that the police could not confirm his words.
Two people were arrested in this case. Austin Boehm, 25, and Christian Mercado, 20, have been charged with second degree murder. Police did not give details of the situation, simply indicating that the victim was probably dead in the old market and had been for several days. “At the moment, we don’t know what happened,” an NYPD spokesperson said. No visible trauma was found on the body but the autopsy has yet to be performed.
Several neighbors explained to the “New York Post” that this place had been used by homeless people for several years and that the suspects, like the victim, were also homeless. The Fulton Fish Market was moved in 2005 to a new building in the Bronx. He had been around for 183 years and was linked for years to one of New York’s Mafia families.
