According to “Dianshi News”, a woman from Fuzhou, Fujian Province, Xiaojuan, went to the hospital six months ago due to obesity, hair loss and irregular menstruation. During the diagnosis, the doctor found that her face was swollen, a large number of striae appeared on the skin of her abdomen and limbs, and she had type 2 diabetes. Participants were divided into 2 groups:

One group must eat one large avocado (approximately 280kcal) every day for 6 months. The other group must maintain their original eating habits, but cannot eat more than 2 avocados per day.

Research result:

1. Total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels decreased significantly. It may be related to the dietary fiber and plant sterols of avocado, or it may be due to the changes in intestinal microbiota caused by eating avocado.

2. Eating avocados will not promote weight gain.

Although the average caloric intake of the avocado-consuming group was significantly higher than that of the other group, there was no significant difference in weight change between the two groups. The data showed that participants replaced relatively high carbohydrate foods in their diet with avocado.
