Gerard Manning was arrested yesterday as a suspect in a deadly Thanksgiving Day shooting in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Manning was arrested in connection with the homicide of Victoria Myers, 30, Joint management was reported by Union County Prosecutor William Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca.
The 30-year-old suspect was charged with murder, possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a minor, according to a statement from the prosecutor’s office.
Elizabeth police officers responded to a report of a possible homicide Thursday morning at 688 Maple Avenue, the radio station said. NJ 101.5 FM.
When they arrived, they found Myers dead at the scene. After a joint investigation, officials said Manning was discovered to be the suspect, reported Pix11. No details were given about the motive for the shooting or the possible link between the detainee and the victim.
“I want to assure the public that the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and our partner law enforcement agencies remain committed to relentlessly pursuing those who threaten the safety of the communities we serve,” said Prosecutor Daniel. All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
In a similar case, on Thursday night a 69-year-old grandmother and teacher was shot in the neck as she returned home from the family’s Thanksgiving dinner in front of her residential building in Brooklyn (NYC). No one has been arrested in that case.
