A woman apparently used pepper spray against her ex-boyfriend in the southern part of Karlsruhe. The irritant spray got inside and injured dozens of people.
A 23 year old has in Karlsruhe used a pepper spray and injured at least 58 people in the process. As the police announced on Friday that the woman had initially quarreled with her former partner the evening before at Werderplatz. She picked up an over-the-counter animal repellent spray and sprayed it in the direction of her 26-year-old ex-boyfriend from a few meters away.
However, the spray also spread in the direction of two nearby and well-frequented restaurants and also moved into a bar. “Several guests then fled the interior,” the police said. At least 58 people complained about Travel homes, Eyelid pain and difficulty swallowing. The woman’s ex-boyfriend and another man, aged 22, were admitted to hospital.
The police said that the 23-year-old was being investigated for dangerous bodily harm. The officers confiscated two apparently used spray cartridges from her home. It is currently being determined whether she had used the spray a second time near a kiosk on Werderplatz. The police are looking for witnesses and other victims.
