Mara Soriano and her fiancé were moving four days ago when they left the backpack with the bear inside unattended on the street for a short while. When they came out again, the backpack was gone. The woman immediately posted the news on social media, hoping that the thief would repent through her story and bring the bear back.
However, the call received far more response than Soriano had hoped. Some Notable Canadians, including actor Ryan Reynolds, shared her story and even offered a $ 5,000 reward to the “Good Samaritan” who would reunite Soriano with her bear.
On Tuesday evening, four days after the theft, Soriano received an email from someone claiming that he had the bear and that he wanted to return it. “I was a bit suspicious because the story got so big in the media and there was such a big reward, but we decided to meet in a public place anyway.”
And as it turned out, it was definitely her bear. “It was wrapped in a handkerchief, there was no scratch,” says Soriano. “I could not believe my eyes.”
It is not known whether the man claimed his reward.
