He accepted without thinking twice the proposal to take out an insurance policy that the director of the Post Office and the commercial specialist of Andali, a small town of just 600 souls in the province of Catanzaro, asked her for her Molly, an eight-year-old dog. Protagonists of the story: Mrs. Silvana Polito, a native of the center of pre Sila but always living away for work, the director of the local Post Office, Andrea De Biase and colleague Gianluigi Nicoletta, the counter of the Italian Post Office and, in fact, the woman’s poodle.
“Beyond the economic aspect which is certainly advantageous – said Ms. Polito – mine also wants to be a message against the phenomenon of abandonment of four-legged friends which in the summer is increasingly frequent. Andali is a small country that has shown on several occasions that it is very open-minded. I am sure that even from this strip of land a sensitivity of this type can be born and strengthened ”.
The insurance line called pet protection, explained the post office managers, is dedicated to owners of dogs, cats or other pets, for yard or saddle. Its subscription provides for the reimbursement of veterinary expenses only for surgery, pre and post surgery, and civil liability and legal protection for any damage to third parties.
