MECHELEN – A 35-year-old woman from Duffel stood before a judge in Mechelen on suspicion of negligence. In 2019, her boyfriend had fallen down the stairs, but the woman failed to call an ambulance immediately. “She put a blanket over him because she thought he was just sleeping and not injured,” the woman’s lawyer said. Her boyfriend later died in hospital.
