A woman was arrested after refusing to leave a cafe in Palm Beach County, north of Miami, when an employee asked her to wear a mask and she refused, appealing to her constitutional rights, a local media reported on Friday .
The event occurred on Thursday afternoon, when 61-year-old Cindy Dicorrado refused to leave the premises of the American chain of coffee shops Einstein Bros. Bagels after one of the clerks told her on several occasions that she could not be without wearing a mask.
When a police officer arrived at the establishment located near the city of Boca Raton, the woman began to yell at customers and employees that their constitutional rights were being violated and refused to leave, picked up the FOX 29 channel.
Dicorrado refused at all times to follow the instructions of the police officer that she should leave the premises or would have to arrest her for the crime of trespassing and resisting authority, as it finally happened.
Since the woman refused to obey the policeman’s orders, two officers proceeded to handcuff her and arrest her.
In Palm Beach County, there is an order for the use of masks to protect against covid-19, although some residents are challenging this regulation in court, the media added.
Florida added 13,720 new cases and 217 deaths from covid-19 on Thursday in a “full resurgence” of infections, while authorities try to alleviate the pandemic with a vaccination campaign that gives priority to adults over 65 years of age.
Some SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus vaccination sites in Miami-Dade County may have to close next week as county officials said they may not receive new doses in time.
The state-run sites at Hard Rock Stadium and Marlins Park will receive 7,000 doses of vaccines each week, but enough doses may not arrive for vaccination at Tropical Park and Zoo Miami.
