Woman picked up by river

At 21.22 on Sunday evening, the Troms police district writes that they have initiated a rescue operation following a report that a person was missing in the Salangselva.

– Air ambulance from Tromsø with divers as well as air ambulance from Evenes has been sent to the site, police wrote on Twitter.

Police first wrote that the incident happened at Salangsdalselva, but later stated that the correct name is Salangselva.

Police operations chief Eirik Kileng tells TV 2 that they were notified of the incident at 20.50.

– There were two people on a float in the river. The floating animal overturned, and then one came ashore. The other is missing, says Eirik Kileng, operations manager at Trom’s police district to VG.

The police describe the river as stiff and large. To VG, Kileng says that the person who came ashore should not be injured, but that the person is in shock.

Kileng tells TV 2 that there was a woman who was missing. At 21.53, police report on Twitter that a woman has been transported.

– She has been found and will be transported to hospital with air ambulance, Kileng tells TV 2.

The extent of injury is currently unknown.
