A 54-year-old woman was fatally run over in a Queens (NYC) car wash yesterday afternoon by an employee who had been drinking, said the police.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. at a facility located at Cross Bay Boulevard and Gold Road in Ozone Park.
NYPD said Edwin Vargas, 43, was driving out of the car wash a Jeep Liberty SUV when it struck the unidentified woman, who she was a business customer. She was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Vargas he also collided with a parked car before stopping and was taken into police custody at the scene, authorities said.
A spokesman for the NYPD said that Vargas had a blood alcohol level of 0.115%. Now faces charges including vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault and intoxicated driving, the station reported 1010Wins.
In a similar case, in 2019 a woman was fatally struck by her own vehicle while drying it after washing, in Queens.
