A 46-year-old woman is detained on suspicion of involvement in the death of an 85-year-old woman in Nijkerk last week. She is also suspected of injuring the victim’s daughter a few days later, writes Gelderland broadcaster.
The very elderly woman was found dead in her home on Tuesday. The suspect from Amsterdam was arrested on Thursday, but released a day later. She is said to have injured the daughter of the elderly woman, after which she was arrested again.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, the suspect was released because the examining magistrate ruled that the suspicion against her was “insufficiently concrete”. A spokesperson does not want to say anything more about this at the moment.
Complicated case
It is still unclear what happened in Nijkerk. Omroep Gelderland reports that the suspect knew the two victims. She is said to have lived in a house with the injured daughter. According to local residents, the daughter is known to the police and social services.
In the interest of the investigation, the police does not want to say anything about the injured person and any mutual relationships. However, a spokesperson confirms that it is a complicated matter. Research is still being done at the house.
Candles and flowers
Local residents and others involved lit candles in front of the house of the 85-year-old victim. Flowers are also placed near a tree. The woman lived in the ward for about 40 years.
