A woman who was infected with the new coronavirus in the UK recounts the horrible experience she had in fighting the illness that took her mother, Maria Rico, 76. Anabel Sharma, 49, was admitted to the intensive care unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary Hospital in mid-October, but, about 15 days after being admitted, the English woman was approached by her mother by the doctors, because she wanted to speak to her daughter.
“I couldn’t hear her well, because of the masks and ventilation devices. The doctor had to ‘translate’ me, because they never took off our ‘helmets’ so that we could hear each other better.
