Woman in the Bronx fears for her life as she is stalked by a man armed with a machete

Milagros Martínez is desperate, because for several weeks she has been the victim of a man who stalks her apartment in the Bronx armed with a machete and she fears that he may harm her.

The woman lives in an apartment in a complex located on Webster Avenue and told Univision 41 that since January 13, a subject armed with a machete has appeared in front of her house, knocking on the door, throwing objects and causing terror.

“I am not willing to feel afraid in my house, this is my place of peace and I have none. Who do I go to? Where I go? “Who gives me peace of mind?” Milagros demanded through tears.

The subject, he explained, enters the complex through one of the back doors that does not have a lock.

“That is the door that gives access to my apartment. When the police came yesterday, he came out right here and they came in through the elevator. That is, they had no contact,” he explained.

The man has been captured on video causing damage to the door of his apartment and even knocking on the door in a threatening tone with the steel blade of the machete.

“If there is no injury, they will not come”

Only because of his insistence, after the suspect’s third incursion, did he manage to get the police to take his report.

However, he said, there is little they can do.

“When the police came what they told me was that there was no physical assault, that I had to wait for them to be able to make a report,” he explained.

Arisleidy Guante, one of Milagros’ colleagues, questioned whether the authorities need there to be any strong aggression in order to act.

“You don’t even know who to call because they arrive at two or three o’clock. So for them, if there isn’t someone injured or people bleeding, they don’t come.”

Milagros commented that she has not received any support from the owners of the building either.

With the report, the Hispanic woman will go to request a restraining or restriction order.

However, if the man is arrested, he could be free without bail as there is no attack.
